#thankful

My school had our Thanksgiving feast the other day and boy do I have a lot to be thankful for…..I have a cool dog, I have rooms full of toys, I eat lots of candy, I run the show at my house….it’s good to be king. And I know school cafeterias have a bad reputation for food quality, but my school makes the best pumpkin pudding EVER!!! I look forward to this feast every year just for that alone. My folks weren’t wild about trying it so I ate theirs – yummo! I thought my folks skipped the pudding because they wanted to save room for the turkey, potatoes, dressing, green beans, and rolls, but they didn’t really eat much of that either so not sure what they know that they’re not telling me. I was fine in my ignorance-is-bliss-world eating the turkey, potatoes, and rolls.

After all the pudding was gone, I hung out with some friends before heading back to class. I think I ate too much tryptophan in the turkey because I could’ve used a nap….or more pudding.

Where have you been?

I’ve been waiting to post until you came back – only kidding – it’s all my fault. You know it’s not easy being a 7-year old in an instantaneous world that provides and demands everything immediately – I’m usually on the demanding end – I’ve got CEO written all over me.

So to catch you up on a few things….Halloween rocked. I went as Sonic the Hedgehog and mommy, Grannie, and daddy all went as other Sonic characters. They weren’t as “lucky” as I was because they only had hats that looked like the character while I had the whole costume – Sonic, baby! Anyway, I got A LOT of candy from trick-or-treating. Mommy and daddy swear I’m still on my sugar high and are waiting for me to come down.

Moving on….Thanksgiving rocked. We had some good food and had a relaxing day with family. I should have taken a picture of our spread, but evidently, we are all too hungry to stop and pose. I did have my annual Thanksgiving lunch at school. Mommy and daddy came up to school to eat with me. I just love it when they come eat lunch with me. I think I have them conned into eating with me once a month each and Grannie, too. I was pushing for each of them to come eat with me once a week, but I can settle for once a month each.

Now we’re pretty much up to date on everything except for one thing…..BUDDY IS BACK IN TOWN! Yep, my own personal elf is back in town and I love me some Buddy. First, he always changes locations. Sometimes they are silly and sometimes they are normal, but it’s always fun to try and find him in the morning. It really serves as good motivation to get out of bed in the morning. Second, and perhaps the best part, Buddy always brings me 24 little pre-Christmas gifts from Santa and I can open one each day if I act right, e.g., brush my teeth, clean up my toys, read, say my prayers. And yes, there were times over the past couple of years that I did not get to open a present because I wasn’t acting right – bygones.

Below are some pics from the past few weeks. Also, stay posted because I am getting on the #TBT (ThrowBack Thursdays) train so stay tuned for some pics from my past on Thursdays.

tERkey with an ER

Yep, I spelled turkey with an ER because that is where I ended my Thanksgiving day. I just got back from my first visit to the ER in my 4 years of living and I would like to make that my last visit.

So here’s what happened. I was playing at my house and being silly by sticking my tongue out and I hit my chin on the top of my couch and bit my tongue in the middle. While that doesn’t seem like such a big deal understand that the cut was about a tooth and a half wide (approx 1/4″) and about 1/8″ deep at an angle. I cried  very little and kept talking a lot so my folks thought I was okay. They Googled tongue cuts and most of them said that the tongue heals fast and that unless it was gaping or bigger than 1/2″ no stitches were typically required. At the time, my cut didn’t seem to be gaping so they figured I would be okay.

Mommy went off to work a little while later and daddy was curious how my cut looked so I showed him. He began to get a little concerned because it didn’t look like it was staying closed after all – it was gaping I tell ya. So after exchanging a few texts with mommy, daddy decided to take me to the ER to have it looked at. He felt worst case I would have to get a stitch and best case would be I would only get some medicine to keep it from getting infected. Needless to say, we were both hoping for best case here…..we weren’t so lucky. I ended up getting TWO STITCHES IN MY TONGUE!!!

Okay, this meant that the doctor had to numb my tongue so they could sew it back together. They put some numbing gel on my tongue which made it feel silly and made me drool a lot. Then they gave me FOUR SHOTS IN MY TONGUE!!! The first couple kind of hurt, but not too bad. I didn’t cry, jump, scream, or anything. My tongue flinched a little bit on the first couple, but another doctor was holding my tongue so no harm. After that, they used two stitches to make me all whole again and I didn’t feel a thing. Daddy said he was hurting for me and that he was a bigger baby than I was – he should try getting all kinds of needles in his tongue.

After the doctor was done, he brought me 3 stickers for being such a good boy during the whole thing. They were like my medals for being so brave. Daddy wanted to know where his were for being so brave too, but the doctor didn’t give him any – I gave him one of mine.

I’m on the mend now so big ups to the nigh time ER doctors and nurses at Methodist McKinney Hospital. I’m glad I had you, but hope I never see you again….oh well, chicks dig scars.

Gobble, Gobble

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!! I hope everyone has a safe and happy Thanksgiving. My mommy had to work at the hospital so my daddy and I went over to pawpaw Kolias’ place and ate there. Then we came home and watched the Cowboy game (how ’bout them Cowboys). Grannie came over later and we all made dinner for when mommy came home. And I must say, I can help make some mean mashed potatoes. All was good and we will be eating left overs for days….time to add my holiday weight.

We are planning on going downtown this weekend to see all the Christmas festivities. I will post some pics from there.

BTW here is some of my school art. My folks liken me to Picasso’s early years. What do you think?

P-out!
