Galveston Day 5 – A Good Day to Boogie

On Thursday, Grannie came down to Galveston for a couple of days to spend being a beach bum with me. I couldn’t have been happier because we got to go walking all along the beach picking up all the shells and I do mean all of them – I have like a bucket full. I also got to show her how to boogie board. I thought it was so cool that my Grannie even got out there and tried to boogie board all by herself. She did awesome! I told her it was a good day to boogie and I was right. Pics of those will come when we develop the film from the waterproof camera – yep I said it – develop film. We bought an old school waterproof disposable camera so we could take it out to get action shots and I have a feeling it will pay off.

After our time at the beach, we went to Pleasure Pier for some dinner and fun on the rides. We ate at Bubba Gumps – Stupid Is As Stupid Does. After that, we went to ride the scary rides. Daddy stepped up right away and said he would ride the teacups with me while mommy went with the the boys to ride the Iron Shark – it may have been taller and faster and had loops, but my teacups spun around pretty fast so it was kinda the same – at least to me and daddy. Even though mommy asked daddy several times if he wanted to go ride the larger roller coasters, daddy insisted he would tough through my rides. Based on the amount of screaming he did on my rides, mommy and I think my rides were all he could take – so far no denial.

Galveston – Day 3 & 4

So somehow I missed posting for day 3 – its vacation so all the days blend together and I don’t do schedules so I guess I wasn’t really late.

The last couple of days has been busy with boogie boarding, swimming at the pool, and fishing. I did find out that Tio can’t take a very good picture as you will see below.

Not saying much this post because I got to get my beach on.

Galveston Day 2- The Beach

Smiles are still on everyone’s faces, but one thing I’m learning is that having a sibling is so different from being the only focus in my parents eyes. There are some brothers here that are always trying to get under each other’s skin and they usually do. It’s funny to see how quickly they can push each other’s buttons. The little brother was convinced he got stung by a jelly fish, but turns out his big brother just scratched him with his toenail to scare him – it worked because little brother left the beach with his arm wrapped up.

Anyway, today was all about the beach – sandcastles, waves, boogie boards. The one thing I love to do is run into the waves and see if they can knock me down – the answer is yes, but I get right back up and ask for more. I think I did this for hours. Daddy and mommy kept saying how big I was getting and how much easier it was this year versus last year because they didn’t have to hold me up or jump with me above the waves since I know how to swim and knew to hold my breath this year if I went under – glad I could make your life easier, but just keep this moment in mind when you think I’m a handful – it’s a trade off.

I’ve gotten so big that this year I’m boogie boarding – nothing like water boarding so it’s all good. To me it was like Riding Giants – waves crashing in over me – feeling like I’m on the verge of going out of control, but riding high on the waves – I’m hooked. I think I’m going to be a beach bum/surfer when I get older – I haven’t broken that news to my folks yet, but they seem so happy that I’m doing it now so what’s the big difference, right?

After all that, it was time to chill by building some sand castles. That is really not my forte because we spend all that time making castles that seem to fall in no time – fall or I knock them down that is. whichever, it is relaxing to me – zen if you will.

So far, so great. Keep you posted.

Summer lovin’

So what have I been up to since I am out of school for the summer – whatever I want bitches! That may have been a bad word, but not sure because mommy uses it all the time and it seemed like it fit there. Daddy would never talk that way….

Anyway, the summer started with me doing all kinds of work around the house. In fact, Grannie and I planted flowers the first weekend I was out and they still look good. After the initial bit of work, I’ve been staying up super late – sometimes later than mommy and daddy. I have been waking up super late which mommy and daddy like on the weekend. I’ve also been getting chocolate wasted as much as possible.

My buddy Greyson came over and we had a blast. Seems like that 8 hours of non-stop play flew by for us. We played inside, outside, inside again, and outside again. We had toys out everywhere. He is coming over again next week – can’t wait.

The other thing I have been doing is working on my tan at the beach club and pool. Relax – I’m not being raised by the Tanning Mom. The sun has to get through my SPF 65 before it damages my delicate epidermis. I have also started swimming under water. I’n pretty good at holding my breath. And I wear a mask that covers my nose so I don’t get any water up my nose – that helps give me confidence.

I have big plans for the rest of the summer so you will have to check back to find out what your favorite 5-year old is up to.

“I Wish Heaven Had a Telephone”

I’ve been fortunate to have not lost anyone yet, but some of my friends have. One little boy in my class says his daddy is in Heaven. While I know Heaven is suppose to be a good place, I sure am glad mommy and daddy are still here, not to mention my grannie, nanny, papa(s), and the rest of my family – sure am a lucky kid. Anyway, one of my daddy’s friends wrote and performed this song. The back story is from a post he saw on Facebook from one of his friends. You can read his own words…

A friend of mine that I had not spoken to in years posted this one day and it stuck with me. I had no idea how or when her dad passed away, I just knew the wish was something that many of us experience – a wish for one more conversation with someone we love who is no longer here.

The death of a loved one is probably a time that makes us most willing and open to reach out to God.  For some people, this is one of the few times they will “give God a chance.”

The concept of this song is that we will never understand why some things happen on Earth – children dying, loved ones taken way too soon, cancer claiming a young mother or father, leaving behind young children.  In those moments, we reach out to God. We want to know why, we want some answer to appear to us because if we can make sense of a tragedy, it might be easier to accept.

This song takes you through a few conversations between those here on Earth and those in Heaven.  The first two verses are true stories of actual events. The bridge represents the question you ask yourself when you look into the sky, see the stars and wonder if they can hear you or if they know how much you miss them.  The last verse is the response.  From Heaven, they too wish Heaven had a telephone.  They would talk to us and tell us how it turns out.….  “I was there when Valley was born, we all were, and we were cheering along with you” or “Yes, I did die in the car wreck, but 11 people who were far from God prayed for the very first time.  Trust me, it was worth it.”

When you hear this song, and you think of that someone, remember, God is good, always.

Like I said, I sure am a luck kid to not know this reality yet, but I can sure empathize with the emotion. Give the song a chance and download it on iTunes or the group’s site Jeremy Powers & The Empty Chairs.

Another May update (in June)

One thing that was a major event for little pretty girl I know was that she and her mommy were in a car accident. They were rear-ended and banged up pretty good. She’s okay now, but the hospital had her on a ventilator for a while. Mommy and daddy kept saying they would be so freaked out if that happened to me as Kyndall’s mommy was. At first, they only thought she had broken her leg and right orbital bone, but they found out about a week later that she had broken her arm too.

Here’s a pic of poor little Kyndall.

Shake and Bake

That’s Shake and Bake Ricky Bobby style.

I went to a birthday party at Ellen’s Amusement Park for this little 5 year old chica I know, Kyndall. I had a blast, but probably most fun racing go-karts….er, I mean race cars with daddy. He kept saying “Shake and bake, baby” and “If you ain’t first, you’re last.” Thank you Ricky Bobby – you have had such an impact on my daddy.

Shake and Bake

I also had fun playing one of the video games there. I had t smash all the spiders as they lit up. I never played that game before so it was great playing it over and over. I won so many tickets I was able to get a prize – a spider. Is that irony, coincidence, or poetic? Don’t ask me, I’m only 4.

The itsy bitsy spider...SPLAT!

NYE

This is my mommy and her best friend Kelly last night at Tio and Kim’s party. Can you tell which picture was taken at the beginning of the night and then at the end of the night?
