Snake Live

It just dawned on me, I never posted a picture from our Snake Live event at school. It is normally called Friday Live, but this time our extremely cool Principal was going to kiss a snake. Why? Because we met our pledge goal for our Boosterthon run and she promised if we did, she would kiss a snake in front of us. I have to give her props because there is no way I would kiss a snake because it might swallow me whole like a impala.

Check out the pics and my dancing in the video – you need to be patient because some kids and teachers get in the way of seeing me, but I’m worth waiting for.

Some of daddy’s favorite moments are at :16 and :24 so enjoy!

Good Friday!

This is also a great spiritual version of the original which I’m a big fan of.

Time to step it up, dad!

Dad, I love you to death, but looks like you have some ground to make up when it comes to creativity and ability. I mean the decorative baggies are cute and all, but this guy is amazing. He must really love his kid – do you just not love me enough to learn how to do this??? 😦

(Watch through all the clips – worth it.)

So I’ve  been taking my lunch to school just about every day for nearly two school years and not one sweet note from my folks to let me know they love me and/or thinking about me and/or they care!! Then, one day a couple of weeks ago, I was really not wanting any part of going to school – I mean I figured if I didn’t go to school again, I would always have my folks to live with and that’s fine with me. But as soon as I proposed that, they went on about me growing up and not wanting them to be around and me getting married – which again I said we would live with them. Then, they started on about baby birds being thrown out of the nest and it was up to them to fly or crash to the ground – not sure where they were going with that, but I do know a little thing called adverse possession (squatter’s rights) exists.

Anyway, I opened my lunch that day and I saw more than a note! It was a silly drawing on my sandwich bag. It totally surprised me and totally made me smile. Not sure if this was suppose to be a one time deal, but it appears as long as I keep telling them how much I like it and ask what’s next the baggies keep showing up with a different surprise every day.

This is a throwback for sure because you would be hard-pressed to find me playing with bugs these days, no matter how cute you try to make their names sound. Daddy blames it on mommy making me this way, but it isn’t like he’s petting crickets or anything. And daddy, since when do you need a whole roll of paper towels or toilet paper to pick up a little spider??? Yeah, mommy is to blame.

Baby, I was born to run

boosterthon run

So while there is plenty of time left in the school year, we are on the downside so that means lots of fun stuff for us to do at school, e.g., field trip, field day, and the Boosterthon Fun Run. The Boosterthon Fun Run is something I look forward to because I’m not all that great at basketball and and soccer like my other friends so I usually don’t play those with them or at least not when there are a lot of kids playing. But I know I can run. I may not be the fastest, but I can get my Forrest Gump on and run for days.

The Boosterthon Fun Run is where I get people to pledge a certain amount based on how many laps I run around a 1/16 of a mile track. Don’t worry, I won’t lose my college sports eligibility for taking money for sports performance. No, the school uses this money to invest in our educational tools. This year, it was for technology which is going toward more iPads for the school because (queue the violin) do you know how challenging it is to learn by only using textbooks and workbooks that are….printed?? The other schools in the district tease us and tell us when we think of a good comeback to send them a letter because we can’t access our email at school….sniff, sniff….oh the humanity…..#1stWorldProblems….forget Jerry’s Kids or Sally Struthers (dated references??), host a telethon for our suburban, predominantly upper middle class school. In all seriousness, the goal is a great one – it is to help better our ability to work with technology in a world that continues to make technological jumps at the speed of light and prepares us to be contributors instead of spectators.

Last year, as a kindergartener, I ran 44 laps which works out to be 2-3/4 miles. So since I’m a 1st grader now, there was no way I could do less than last year.  My goal is always to do better than what I have done before – it may not always be the best in the world, but it gets me closer to my best every time. Besides, my fan club doubled in size since last year so there was no way I could put in a sub-kindergarten effort. This year, my grannie and aunt were there to cheer me on in addition to mommy and daddy. So how did I do? 46 laps baby! That’s 2-7/8 miles.

Mommy and daddy said I did awesome and since I enjoy running so much, they want to start running with me regularly to train for a race. Bring it because to paraphrase The Bossbaby I was born to run (again with the dated reference, huh??).

Did I ever tell you about the time daddy wanted to meet Barney so bad? You know – the big purple dinosaur that likes to sings and hug people? Evidently, daddy used to watch the show all the time when I was younger and would always sing his “I love you” song and make me and mommy act out the parts of the song. Supposedly, I enjoyed doing this, but I’m not admitting nothin’ (double negative used for effect).
