I have only one burning desire….

…let me stand next to your fire. Those Hendrix lyrics kept coming out of daddy’s mouth the other weekend when we went to papa Dupree’s house and had a bonfire. It was the first one I’ve been to in a long time. The last one I was at was at Tio’s and we almost had to call the fire department for that one. Fortunately, this was better managed than that one. This one, I was also old enough to participate by throwing any piece of wood and just about anything that wasn’t too heavy to lift. It made me feel manly and primal. I even found myself grunting and mesmerized by the flames – I think I devolved back to a caveman for an minute.

I had a blast and it was good family time – can’t wait to do it again. I told mommy and daddy we could do it in our backyard next time. I’ll let you know how that works out.

Year of the Snake

If you are up on your Chinese Zodiac calendar, then you already know that 2013 is the year of the Snake. So what does that mean to me – nothing – it was just my way of saying HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone. We should all take time to reflect on the past year and discern between those things we want to carry over into the new year and those that are best left in 2012.

For me, I want to continue my development in school from and education and social perspective. To a lot of people, I’m the same little boy I’ve been for the past 6 years – extremely reserved. For those that really know me, they can tell I have developed by actually participating in PE, talking to the teacher (when she asks me to), and playing with my buddy Greyson, but I know there is still more I can work on – on the list. I still don’t have a lot of patience for anyone who doesn’t see things my way so I hope all of you resolve to be better at seeing things my way – trust me, we will all be happier.

I do resolve to learn how to ride my bike without training wheels this year. I probably would have gotten closer to doing that this past year if my parents ever would have let go of the bike instead of running behind me holding it up so that probably should be on their list too. Come to think of it – maybe my resolutions are actually having people get their act together and make my life better. Done. 2013 is a snap.

Below is a pic of something I didn’t want to bring over into the new year – my tooth. Lost it on New Year’s Eve when I was getting crazy on up in the hizzle – ain’t no party like a 6-year old party because a 6-year old party don’t stop….unless it’s time to go night-night.  That is 3 and counting. For those keeping track – that is $15 the Tooth Fairy has lost to me so far.

I wasn’t just dreaming of a white Christmas…..

….because for the first time in my life, I had a we had a white Christmas. It was totally unexpected and totally welcomed. And it was actually perfect timing because I got to wake up early (5:30am) to make a huge mess opening all my presents with mommy, daddy, and grannie, then played with the gifts, and then got to go outside and play with mommy and daddy in the snow – it really couldn’t have been any better. And with all the excitement, we made sure we all understood the reason for the season.

As special as the day was, there was one downside – Buddy, my elf, went back to the North Pole for the year. I always get a little sad when he goes away, but I think about him a lot over the year. He’s my elf and the best elf ever so see you next year Buddy – can’t wait to see what silly things you do next year.

The following pics are from the Christmas season with Buddy and the family. (Note: one of my favorite pics is of me trying to catch snowflakes with my tongue.)

I’m registered

Black Friday…Cyber Monday/Week…Wednesday….whatever the day, there are only 28 days until Christmas so I thought I would make it easier on everyone who wants to shower me with gifts. I have registered at Toys-R-Us for toys I would like. You are more than welcome to go off script and buy whatever you think I’ll like, but there are no guarantees so shop elsewhere at your own risk.

And yes, I know Christmas is about more than gifts so rest assured I will also be spreading the love. But keep in mind I’m six so perspective is still skewed.

The link below, you will go to Toy-R-Us wish list. All  you need to do is enter my last name in the “Creator” box and shop until you can’t shop anymore.

Turkey day at school

We had our Thanksgiving Feast at school the other day. I was very excited about it because daddy was able to come eat with me and we were going to go through the lunch line for the first time. I have always been nervous to go through the line by myself, but this time I was going to be able to show daddy how it was done so I had all the confidence in the world. I even got to pay for daddy’s lunch with my school card – it’s not a black card from Amex just yet, but it gets me by.

The food left a little to be desired, but all in all it was fun and we also got to dress in “clothes” we designed ourselves out of paper bags – although it was Native American garb so I may have been on the wrong end of that deal.

Just a good day

The weather has been so great lately that I’ve been spending a lot of time outside – just the perfect time of year. I was working on my soccer skills and got a few action pics I thought I would share. Chat with you later…

Hula Baby

Problem: It became clear to me that I was the only one in my class who didn’t know how to Hula Hoop – I wasn’t even sure if you spelled it hoola or hula for that matter. So I talked it over with my folks and we came to the conclusion that they were falling down on their duties as parents and never taught me how to hula or even bought me Hula Hoop. Of course, their defense was that we no longer live in the 50’s, but they should know the Hula Hoop is timeless.

Solution: Grannie heard I couldn’t hula and didn’t have a hoop so she rushed to the toy store and bought me one. We made it our mission to get my hula on and that’s just what we did….

Galveston Day 8 – Coming Home

Well, vacation is officially over. There was one moment worth forgetting, but daddy won’t forget about that for 8 weeks. Everything else, was worth remembering and something I will cherish. Thank you to Shad, Tristin, Brandon, Kim, Tio, Grannie, Mommy, Daddy, and Galveston – all you guys rock. Be it a job or school, we are all headed back to reality. You guys allowed me to escape from reality for a week. We have got to do it again soon. Now, it’s time to go home….hit it Diddy

Back where I belong, yeah I never felt so strong
(I’m back baby)
I feel like there’s nothing that I can’t try
And if you with me put your hands high
(put your hands high)
If you ever lost a light before, this ones for you
And you, the dreams are for you……..I’m coming home, I’m coming home
